About The Dad Bod Mechanic
Coach Jimmy Hartley works with one type of client: men over 40 who are done being out of shape. Here is why the practice is built that way, and what the method is and is not.

Coach Jimmy Hartley
Twenty five years in the fitness industry. A BKin from the University of Calgary and a Medical Exercise Specialist. The practice was established in 2002.
Men over 40 are not a niche Jimmy stumbled into. They are the whole practice. A plan built for a twenty-five-year-old does not account for your joints, your recovery, or the schedule you actually have. The method is built for the body you are in now, not the one you had at twenty.
Why the Practice Is Limited to Men Over 40
Most coaching is built for people who recover quickly, have flexible schedules, and are starting from a baseline of decent movement. That is not the man who walks through the door here. By forty the body has accumulated years of sitting, old injuries, and compensations that generic programming does not see and does not account for.
Narrowing the practice to men over 40 is not a marketing angle. It is what makes the method work. Every program assumes the joints, the recovery capacity, and the life schedule of a man in that stage of life. You are not getting a general plan with your name on it. You are getting a plan that was built for the situation you are actually in.
What the Method Is
Three pillars: resistance training designed for men over 40, carnivore-aligned nutrition, and accountability coaching. Three sessions a week, forty-five minutes each. A nutrition plan you can actually stick with. Weekly check-ins and monthly one-on-one calls so the plan adjusts to how you are actually doing, not how a spreadsheet says you should be doing.
The goal is to fix the engine without breaking the frame. Build the muscle that drives the metabolism. Repair the joints so movement stops hurting. Get the body running like new without the injuries and frustration that come from generic programs.
What It Is Not
This is coaching, not physiotherapy and not medical treatment. Jimmy works around injuries. He does not diagnose, treat, or rehabilitate them. Where a condition needs clinical care, that stays with your own practitioner. His job is to build programming that is appropriate for what your body is already dealing with so the work moves you forward without making it worse.
No fad diets. No fluff. No plan copied from someone half your age.
