2. Scope
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what rights you have. It applies to thedadbodmechanic.com and to the coaching services we deliver.
We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). For clients in the United States we also follow the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and CTIA messaging guidelines.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. Our services are for adults.
4. Why we collect it
- To contact you about a call you booked, and to confirm, remind, reschedule or follow up on appointments
- To deliver coaching: build your programming, track progress, and adjust the plan
- To answer questions you send us
- To send you information about our services where you have consented to receive it

We do not sell your personal information. We have never done so and will not do so.
5. Text messages and mobile information
If you provide a mobile number and consent to receive text messages, we may send you appointment confirmations and reminders, coaching check-ins, and information about our services.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe. Reply HELP for help.
Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing anything from us. You can book a call, become a client, and receive coaching without agreeing to text messages.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories of personal information — including IP address, browser type, and website usage data — exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent. This information will not be shared with any third parties.
If you withdraw consent, we stop sending marketing messages. We may still contact you about an appointment you have booked or a service you are actively receiving, where that is necessary to deliver it.
6. Health and fitness information
Health information receives additional protection under Canadian privacy law and we treat it accordingly.
Information you give us about injuries, medical conditions, medications, or physical limitations is used for one purpose only: to build training that is appropriate and safe for you. We do not share it, we do not use it for marketing, and we do not use it to make decisions about you outside of your coaching.
The Dad Bod Mechanic provides coaching, not physiotherapy and not medical treatment. We do not diagnose, treat, or rehabilitate injuries or medical conditions. Where a condition requires clinical care, that remains with your own healthcare practitioner. Nothing you tell us substitutes for medical advice.
Progress photos and body measurements are yours. We will never publish, display, or share them without your separate written consent, given specifically for that purpose. Consent to be featured is always optional and can be withdrawn.
7. Service providers
We use a small number of service providers to run the business. Each receives only what it needs and each is bound to protect it:
- HighLevel (GoHighLevel) — customer records, booking, email and SMS delivery
- Trainerize — delivery of training programs, exercise logging, check-ins
- Zoom — video coaching calls
- Stripe — payment processing. We never see or store your full card details.
Some of these providers store data outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to foreign courts and law enforcement under the laws of that country.
Beyond these providers, we share personal information only where the law requires it, or where you have asked us to.
Mobile numbers and SMS consent data are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
8. Retention
- Enquiries that do not become clients: 2 years from your last contact with us
- Client records, including training and health information: 7 years after coaching ends, aligning with Canada Revenue Agency business record-keeping requirements
- Phone numbers after you opt out of messaging: retained on a suppression list so we do not message you again by mistake, and for no other purpose
- Progress photos: deleted on request at any time
You can ask us to delete your information sooner. We will do so unless we are legally required to keep it.
9. Security
We use reputable service providers with their own security programs, limit access to what is necessary, and use secure connections for the website and client communications. No system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify you promptly if a breach occurs that creates a real risk of significant harm to you.
10. Your rights
You can:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Ask for a copy of it
- Ask us to correct anything inaccurate
- Ask us to delete it
- Withdraw consent to marketing at any time
- Complain about how we have handled it
Email coach@thedadbodmechanic.com and we will respond within 30 days, as PIPEDA requires.
If you are not satisfied with our response you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca, or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta at oipc.ab.ca.
